The Malaysian Mentality Part I
Here’s a picture of our office entrance. Walk in the doors, and we have a couch for people to sit on while waiting. We’ve got a side table next to the couch, and a plate thing containing Ferrero Rocher for our “premium clients” to snack on.
Well, today, a Malay dispatch guy came to drop off a cheque for us. When my colleague came upstairs to chop the receipt, we so happened to be standing in a position that we could see the dispatch guy from upstairs. As soon as he was alone, he swiped two of the chocolates and put it in his pocket! We were kind of shocked, but we didn’t really say anything. After all, the chocolates WERE put there for people to take.
BUT, a few minutes later, he took another chocolate and put that in his pants as well! Geez…hasn’t he heard of moderation?? I don’t know..maybe I’m being overly critical. Personally, I wouldn’t dream of taking so many chocs, even from a restaurant where they’re all put out at the counter! Especially since he’s a dispatch, not even our customer.
Is this an incident that would only happen in Malaysia?
