Wedding bells are ringing!

Hah, of course not mine! :P My brother’s getting married in August, and there’s tons of stuff to be done. His fiancee is from Melaka, and her parents are insisting of having a dinner in Melaka as well. As if two dinners are not enough, my parents want a third one!

So, there’s one garden wedding in The Mines, one extra dinner in Bukit Kiara club, and a third in Melaka! Imagine the work that has to be done…not to mention the amount of $$$ spent, not only for the soon-to-be-wed couple, but for me as well. They’re having a purple-and-white themed wedding, and all immediate family members have to wear purple. Not-so-immediate family members wear purple and white, whilst friends where white.

Of course, I don’t have a purple gown, so it’s shopping time for me. Next, they decided that my mum and I should wear cheongsams, not only must they be purple, but made from the same cloth! So, we went off cheongsam shopping, and it cost me a whopping RM700 for my cheongsam! OK, it does look good, but it’s still reeeallly expensive. If you need cheongsams made, you can check out Emerald, in SS2. It’s the same row as Savemart / Evangel, practically next to the mamak, on the second floor.

Next, my dad says, “You already have a cheongsam for the first night, what about the other two nights? You can’t wear the same thing, you need to get new things!” *sigh* So, last week, I went shopping with him in One Utama. I ended up getting a kebaya from Noor Arfa, which I have termed as ‘the Armani of the Malay world’. One kebaya top and a silk sarong-ish thing cost about RM550, and that’s with 30% discount! Here’s a pic of the top part.

Thankfully, my dad decided to pay for this outfit, but I still have one outfit to find. Not to mention shoes as well, because apparently everything I have doesn’t match purple! After that’s settled, it’s time to start thinking about wedding presents!!

Did I mention that they also asked me to play the violin as they walk down the aisle? I haven’t touched my violin since…ever! At least eight years ago, I should imagine. We couldn’t get another violinist to play with me, so I’ll be accompanied by someone on the keyboard. Hopefully it’s loud enough to drown out any mistakes I make!
