OK, I promised more stories about the Melaka wedding, so here they are:
Good Things
1. When has time spent with T ever been a bad thing? We got to hang out at his dad’s condo, swim in the pool, it was fun!
2. The different-ness between the Palace of the Golden Horses wedding and this one. They had stuff like a Peranakan choir to come up and sing. During the cake-cutting ceremony, it was done with a sword! Never seen that done before…
3. The dancing. When was the last time you saw a dance floor overflowing with over-50s doing the waltz, line-dancing, etc? We even took part in a conga line!
Bad Things
1. The traffic jam on the highway going to and fro from Melaka. When will the roadworks ever stop?? Although, it did give me a chance to take some photos of three really cool cars that were stuck in the lane beside us. Hehe, I’ll post the pics up a bit later.
2. The registration. I was informed half an hour before the dinner that I was expected to do the registration. The lists were a mess! Apparently, the parents of my sis-in-law did it on TYPEWRITER, whilst she did it on her computer. The final lists were merged together by the parents, and they missed out some names. Lots of names were missing from the list, we had to put them at the free seating tables. Plus, something I never saw before…at least three different groups came up to us, and said something like this:
Them: “Excuse me, do you think you can switch Mr. & Mrs. X from our table to a different table? We don’t know them, and we want our other friends, Mr. & Mrs. Y to sit with us instead.
Can you imagine?? Whose dinner do you think this is? Yours? You sit where you’ve been put, and don’t complain!
3. The yucky chocolates on our table. The outside was yum, dark chocolate, but the inside was this weird raspberry flavoured thing. I ate the outsides, and gave the rest to T to finish! Haha, my bandaraya…
4. Sleeping on the floor of the hotel that night. Apparently they were really full up, so they couldn’t provide us with extra comforters / bedsheets. The floor was HARD.
Hmm, looks like the bad things are starting to outnumber the good things. Don’t be fooled, I did have a good time in Melaka!
