Hanoi Day 6

Must beat Eel, must beat Eel. For those of you who know both of us, you probably have realised that both of us have been blogging much more lately. It’s kind of developed into a friendly competition! Although it’s been easier for me since I’ve been doing one day of Hanoi at a time. Hehe…well, it can’t last much longer, today’s the last post about Hanoi.

I didn’t take any pictures on the last day because it was spent mainly in shopping, then travelling back to Malaysia. Also, didn’t do much shopping because it was a budget trip! The only thing that I bought were these tile thingys of Tintin. I looove Tintin. Hehe, I’ll take a picture of them when they’re hanging on my wall and post it up one day. But knowing me, that could take a long time.

After we bid our farewells to Hanoi, we left for the airport. It so happened that there were lots of Vietnamese girls on our flight, I think they were going to Malaysia for work. They had HUGE suitcases, and were hogging most of the check-in lanes. I think the delay was because they went up to the check-in counter, weighed their suitcases which were mostly too heavy, sat down to unpack, then weighed it again! I managed to see what as inside one suitcase, this girl had packed about 20 packets of sanitary pads! There was this other girl who started eating lots of fruits, because they couldn’t fit into her suitcase.

After check-in, here’s when the kiasu-ness began. AirAsia does not have seating arrangements, so if you want to sit with your friends and it’s a big bunch of you, you need to line up early at the gate so that you can literally RUN to the airplane. So, we were all queue-ing up at the gate, when there was an announcement that our plane had been delayed half an hour. We went back and sat down on the chairs, then after about 15 minutes, everyone suddenly started running to another gate. So of course, we started running too.

It ended up in about 5 lines, when there was only supposed to be 1 line. There was much pushing and shoving as the stewardess tried to reduce it to something a bit more manageable. When the gate opened, I was walking slowly to the plane, when this auntie (who must have been in her late 40s) RAN past me and up the stairs. How kiasu is that??

It was quite a smooth flight, when we disembarked, the mess in the plane was HORRENDOUS! You could actually see where the Vietnamese girls sat, and where the others sat. Wherever the Vietnamese sat, there was tons of nut shells, mandarin peel, plastic wrapping, etc. all over the place. I so pitied the people that would have to clean up the plane. If that plane had to go on another flight, I’m sure it would have to be delayed for the clean up.

Anyway, that’s pretty much my Hanoi saga. Now, I have to start thinking of new topics to blog about to beat Eel!
