I’m watching the first F1 race of 2007 which is taking place in Melbourne, Australia, and I really miss watching Michael Schumacher in his Ferrari! It was a sad day for Ferrari when he retired, although Kimi Raikkonen seems to be doing a good job so far (he’s leading the race by about 11 seconds at the moment).

Felipe Massa didn’t manage to qualify in the top ten because he had some technical problems in the second sector of qualifying, so he started in 16th place, I think. He took AGES to get past the Honda car of Jenson Button, even though his car was noticeably faster. The commentator said that it’s not acceptable for a Ferrari driver to be so cautious for so many laps. Michael Schumacher would have been ruthless in overtaking all slower cars in front of him. The race is almost half over, and Massa’s still only in 10th place!

*sigh* I miss Michael Schumacher!!!

I think I might start supporting Lewis Hamilton (but never Fernando Alonso!). He’s doing really well in his first race, he’s in front of Alonso at the moment, in 2nd place. He’s the first black racer in F1, and he’s really talented, from what I’ve seen so far. Hehe, although I think I would support anyone who can best Alonso. Alonso really annoyed me last season when he started complaining that Renault didn’t want him to win the driver’s championship because then he would be taking the No. 1 away from Renault to McLaren.

Major changes in F1 this year would be the tyres used by the F1 cars are all the same, it’s not a choice between Bridgestone and Michelin anymore. Somehow, I don’t see this as a plus, it seems like the cars all becoming the same, and soon it will be like A1. Oh well, I guess time will tell as the season progresses.

One thing to look forward to is the possibility of a night race in Singapore next year. If that happens, I would be SO interested in going for it! Can you imagine a F1 race through Orchard Street at night? It would be so cool!
