My nice long week away from work

We had a public holiday last Monday for Raya, so I decided to take Tuesday – Friday off as well, so I would have a really long break. T and I went down to Singapore on Monday evening, his father had a training session in Hotel Rendesvouz, so we decided to bum free accommodation from him!

We took a First Coach bus down. We normally take Transnasional or Plusliner, because it’s cheap, but it’s such a hassle to go down to Pudu. A one way ticket from First Coach costs RM45, and it drops you at the Novena area. At first, we thought we had to leave from the Bangsar office, but when we went there to buy the ticket, we found out that they’ve launched a new service which departs from the new IBM Building near One Utama! See, that’s why they should have a better site with more information. :p

Anyway, the trip down was pretty uneventful. The hotel that we stayed at was not too bad, my one comment is that they ‘trick’ people with their description! It says it’s a 3 minute walk away from Orchard Road. So, on our first day, we started walking. 5 minutes, and we still hadn’t reached the shopping area of Orchard Road. It took almost 30 minutes to get there! So, we concluded that it means 3 minutes to the START of Orchard Road, which is freakin’ long. They’re not actually lying, but they’re misleading people with their description. Hehe, newbies like us couldn’t be expected to know, I guess.

Favourite things I like about Singapore:

1. Transport. Just like Australia, it’s so convenient to get to places. It’s probably even BETTER than Australia, because the transport goes on till quite late, and Singapore is so small that there are so many ways to get around the city.
2. Good pork-yfood (if you know where to find it)! We went to this place called Cafe Cartel in Plaza Singapura, and we had a really yummy hawaian pork chop. The pork chop was so tender and really good, I’m drooling just thinking about it! Carbonara with real bacon bits…Carl’s Junior burgers with bacon. Yum!
3. Happy Cup bubble tea. I love, love, love bubble tea. I used to drink it all the time back in Melbourne. When I came back to Malaysia, I searched for bubble tea, and I found an acceptable one in Jaya Supermarket. Unfortunately, it closed down after awhile, and I never found a replacement. When we were walking in Orchard, we went into Cineleisure (across the road from Herren / HMV building), and in the basement, there’s a food court, and one of the stalls was Happy Cup! I was really happy, and I had one every single day!

Back in Malaysia, I had no mood to do work at all! It’s so hard to go back to work once you take a long break, especially since it was nice and drizzly this morning, all I wanted to do was the go back to sleep…
