I know lots of people think that Valentine’s Day is totally overrated, and it’s just an excuse for merchandisers to hike up the price of their products / dining experiences. For me, I’m of the opinion that big, expensive gestures are a waste of money, because we can show our love for our significant other in many other more meaningful ways, but small gestures are always appreciated.
Yesterday, at 5.30pm, T messaged me to ask me out for dinner. He showed up at about 7.30pm with the bag we normally use whenever we go shopping (yes, we’re environmentalists whenever we can remember to bring me the bag!). He put it against my arm and said he had a present for me. It was cold, so my first guess was ‘Ice cream!’.
I like NZN, which was why I guessed that.
But, he pulled out of the bag…

The first time he ever brought me flowers! I don’t really love flowers, but somehow, the act of a guy bringing a girl flowers is so romantic, to me anyway.
So, Mr. T, thank you for the lovely surprise, and Happy Valentine’s Day to you and everyone else!
