Paypal – Limited Access Account

When PayPal announced that they were now letting Malaysians withdraw their funds to their credit cards, I’m sure there were many that jumped for joy (myself included). Although they do charge quite a bit to withdraw it, it’s better than having your funds stuck in your PayPal account, where the only way of getting it out is to spend it! If I’m not mistaken, you can only withdraw to Visa credit cards, but it wasn’t a big problem for me, because I only have a Visa credit card. I managed to withdraw twice without any issue.

Yesterday, though, I tried to pay for something that cost USD150, and I got an error, saying that accounts with limited access aren’t allowed to make payments. What?? I got an email from PayPal immediately, saying that they detected suspicious activity on my PayPal account. *sigh* With a limited access account, you can’t make any payments, or withdraw money. In order to restore it, I would need to upload proof of address, which would be my utility bill.

So, I went home and took a picture of my Telekom bill, which is actually in my dad’s name. I also took a picture of my IC, and blanked out my pic and the number. More information is better, right? Some other blogs also said that with more information, they will restore your account quicker. Uploaded my files, and prepared myself for a long wait (no more eBay shopping!). :(

Today, at work, my Yahoo IM informed me that I had an email from PayPal. I quickly jumped into my Yahoo Mail, and guess what? My account has already been restored back to normal, yahoo!! :D
